In my “The Santa Crawl Welcomes McClanahan’s post”, I briefly explained how the unique self-service pub on Allen Street works. You buy an A’s Card for $2.50, then add any $$$ amount that you wish to it. Using that card, you can then purchase any of the 20 beers that A’s Pub has on tap by the ounce. That’s right I said “by the ounce”. You simply fill your glass with as many ounces as you like and the proper amount will automatically be deducted from your A’s card.
Now here’s the deal. During the Crawl, McClanahan’s has offered a FREE A’s Card to any Santa Crawler wearing a wristband. It’s yours to keep. Whenever you want to visit A’s you can add money to the card without having to purchase one. That’s a $2.50 value.
So even if you don’t plan on stopping for a beer. make sure you drop by McLanahan’s to pick you your free A’s Card. That said, they have Troeg’s Mad Elf on tap and I can’t imagine any Santa in his right mind who wouldn’t want to at least sample a Mad Elf while he’s there.
Of if you are truly feeling adventurous, head back to the coolers and grab yourself a bottle of Southern Tier’s 2XMAS that I spotted on the single bottle shelves.
A’s wide expanse of windows overlooking Allen mean it’s the perfect spot to sit and spectate as Santas parade up and down Allen on Saturday. Take a moment to relax during the Crawl by heading to A’s, grabbing your free A’s Card then watch the spectacle unfold on the street as you enjoy a Mad Elf or 2XMAS.
