First of all, let me extend a very huge thank you to everyone who attended Saturday’s Santa Crawl. By any measure, it was a huge success, particularly, in light of the rather nasty weather that we had. For those out-of-towners who were deterred by the snow, mark your calendars for next year and come join us then (I’ll make a formal announcement of the date next month, but it’s not hard to figure out – we are always the week before finals and alternate between Fridays and Saturdays).
While we don’t publish an official attendance figure (with two starting points and people constantly coming and going, it’s too difficult to track), there’s no doubt that this was the largest Santa Crawl ever. If I had to hazard a guess on the number of participants, I would say it was somewhere north (pun intended) of 500.
But the really important number is the money that we raised. I didn’t publish an official target figure for this year, but I did have two objectives in mind and we reached both of them.
First of all, in the two past years, we’ve raised $2055, then $3720 (and to be honest, the only way we made the $3700 number last year was a post crawl appeal to a select group of individuals that helped us fully fund the Boland scholarship). I liked the idea of going $2000+, $3000+, then 4000+, so $4000 was the number that I was rooting for. I’m pleased to announce that we hit that goal.
Secondly, the total funds that we had raised in the previous two year was $5775. That meant that we were $4225 short of hitting $10,000 for our three year effort. We made that number too.
While a few more $$$ might trickle in (anyone who wishes to directly contribute to the Boland Fund can do so here), I’m going to declare the official 2013 total to be $4392 $4492, bringing our three year total to $10,167 $10,267.
A very big thank you to all.
EDIT: We just had a late $100 addition, so I’ve revised the numbers.
