I wanted to be sure to give everyone fair notice that we will be increasing the price of the Santa Crawl wristbands this year.
For the last three years, we’ve held the charge at $10. Many people have encouraged me to make it more in order to raise more money for our charity partner. I was reluctant to do so because I wanted to keep the emphasis of the event on the fun part.
I’ve had a change of heart on this front. Because a purchased wristband allowed people to avoid cover charges at any of the participating bars, it was possible to actually save money depending on how many bars you went to. When you coupled that with some of the food offers some places were offering, the wristband became a huge bargain.
That led to a few instances where it was clear that the only reason some people had purchased the wristbands was to get some free food and avoid cover charges at the bars. They really cared little about the event itself.
We wanted to make sure that we got back to the sharing of the holiday spirit which has been the driving force behind the Crawl.
With that in mind, we’ve decided to raise the price of the wristbands to $20. As has been true in the past, all of the money will still go to the charity (any expenses associated with the Crawl are borne by the individuals who run it – there are no administrative costs deducted from the monies received). So by doubling the wristband fee, we should be able to double our charitable contribution. At the same time, we believe this action will maintain the Crawl’s positive image of adults having a good time while behaving responsibly that has been a hallmark of this event since day one.
I want to make sure that everyone knows this well ahead of the Crawl so they aren’t surprised on the day of the event. Thanks in advance for your understanding.
